Welcome to the Lean Healthcare Academy
The Lean Healthcare Academy is an innovative solution, specifically structured
for those organisations and individuals within the Healthcare sector who want to achieve significant service delivery improvements through the adoption of lean. Lean embraces a set of principles and methods that focus on the elimination of non-value adding activities (waste) within a process. The Lean Healthcare Academy will promote the adoption of these principles through provision of a range of services including: staff development, training and implementation support.
This is a free event to provide attendees with the opportunity to share best practices about Lean implementation strategies. The event forms the basis of an open forum for attendees to discuss common topics of interest to generate ideas, best practices and further knowledge.

“By adopting Lean procedures, we have been able not only to reduce waiting times, but also raise the safety, quality and delivery of our patient care."
- Adam Cairns, Chief Executive, Airedale NHS Trust.
Lean strategies have been adopted by Bradford Council’s Occupational Therapy service through a public and private sector partnership designed to streamline working practices and improve across-the-board service delivery.
During “NHS Innovation Week” (Apr 27-May 1), Sue Speak, Head of Lean Improvement at Airedale General Hospital, Steeton, reports that Lean principles – similar to those used widely in industry to simplify operational procedures and boost productivity – are paying major dividends and having a big impact on patient care.
