Nominees have been shortlisted for the Lean Healthcare Academy’s inaugural annual awards.
They will recognise work undertaken by the Ilkley-based academy’s 21-strong network of NHS member trusts in adopting and implementing Lean working practices as a foundation stone for sustainable service transformation across the healthcare sector.
The awards categories and finalists are:
Project of the Year: Airedale NHS Trust – Pre-Operative Assessment, Hull & East Yorkshire NHS Trust – Trauma Orthopaedic Project, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Oncology & Haematology Blood Test Review.
NVQ Project of the Year: Airedale NHS Trust – Ward Boards, Airedale NHS Trust – Diabetic Foot Clinic, Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
Lean Champion of the Year: Airedale NHS Trust – Anna Jackson, Airedale NHS Trust – Helene Barnes, Leeds PCT – Joanne Davy.
Facilitators Choice: Doncaster PCT, Stockport PCT, York & North Yorkshire Health Community.
Best Impact on Patient Experience: Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Oncology & Haematology Blood Test Review, Doncaster PCT – Orthodontics Project, Stockport PCT – Continence Project.
Organisation of the Year: Airedale NHS Trust, University Hospital North Staffordshire, Stockport PCT.
The Lean Healthcare Academy Exhibition and Awards for Excellence take place at the Queens Hotel, Leeds, on Monday, November 17. The event is being sponsored by the NHS Institute, Yorkshire Forward, recruitment group EMS Sigma and HealthSystems Consulting.
A number of places remain available for the event - a day of best practice sharing, exhibitions, workshops and round table discussions, culminating with a dinner and awards ceremony, at which the guest speaker is Lean guru Sid Joynson, whose television series "Sid's Heroes" was screened on the BBC.
