Where Do I Start?

Where do I start?

If you decide to embrace lean then you are embarking on a never-ending journey. It has to start somewhere and if you are reading this then chances are it should start with you!

For an individual

You can start by doing a small improvement in your work area. You could even organise a large improvement project. While both of these things will undoubtedly help they will not realise their full benefit until the whole organisation is working in this way. Sometimes, however, you have to stand up and swim against the tide. This is never easy but using lean tools and techniques can be very powerful even if you are a lone voice in a large organisation.  Most of the tools and techniques centre on measurements so it is very difficult to argue opinion against fact (although some try!). With real facts about a service or process then people can see where and how it needs to change. To help and support these pioneers we have created the Professional individual membership (PIM)s

For an organisation

To truly adopt a lean philosophy it has to start at the top and work down through the whole organisation. The senior team should know what they are getting themselves into (an organisation full of lean thinking people is a force to reckoned with). Talk to the Lean Healthcare Academy about how to set about implementing a Lean Philosophy in your organisation. Our experience across our all of our members has given us a unique insight into the reasons why every organisation has a unique culture and how to get the best from it.  A timely, structured implementation does not happen by accident and purely throwing resource (people and money) is often wasteful leaving staff and the organisation frustrated.

Training and Knowledge transfer

“you don’t know what you don’t know”
We meet many people who feel their knowledge of service improvement or lean manufacturing is complete. Lean Healthcare is constantly evolving and new ideas, tools and techniques are being developed with every project. We take continuous improvement in our own role very seriously. This approach means the Lean Healthcare Academy puts all of this best practice into its training. This ensures it is current, relevant and packed full of our own real world healthcare examples gathered while working at the front line with staff. Our approach to our training is to make it as practical as possible. With our project work we try to always to leave as much knowledge and know-how behind as possible behind to ensure anyone on a project can do it again once we have gone.
Which training is right for you will depend on what you want to achieve, talk to the Lean Healthcare Academy about the different training options from Face to Face to e-Learning.
